Week-end by the seaside

A glorious week-end spent in the English countryside, visiting some coastal towns and catching up with friends. It felt like the perfect summer getaway, discovering new places with the best company one could hope for. In Mayfield we visited a century old church and some charity shops before admiring the rolling hills of the countryside, as a man quietly tended to his vegetable patch before us. We beheld the lush greenery as we drove through the narrowest of lanes towards Hastings, mesmerised by the density of the surrounding woods and groves. As soon as we arrived, we sat down at a cute cafe that had been on our friends wish-list for some time; its walls were adorned with artistic prints, and it had a selection of pins, cards and more on display. A stylish man sat in the corner reading with an extremely fluffy dog at his side. We went on to walk along the seafront, through the old town and eventually sat down and enjoyed the most delicious chips and mushy peas.

After lunch we saw the quaint fishermen huts, visited the small museum, took the Victorian East Hill rail lift which offers a panoramic view of the town and sea before finally making our way back to Rotherfield. I couldn’t be happier with these shots, they remind me of the hundreds of summer holiday pictures my Nan has collected over the years. You can feel the care-free summer feeling.

I loved taking these pictures and couldn’t be happier with the results, I can’t wait to have some of them framed. It was our first time visiting the English coast so we really wanted to capture as much as we possibly could on film, and we were all dressed up in our summery dresses and even a stylish hat! My budget for England was £7-£8 per day, and our friend managed to plan our entire week-end away without going over which is an impressive feat!

Let me know what you think of these pictures, and have a lovely Sunday x
