Quite a dramatic title for this blog post I admit, but I couldn't think of a better one. That seems to be the problem with blogging lately. Ideally we would post about 3 or 4 times a week. We successfully did so during the summer months, and even maintained it over September. However after a few consecutive busy weeks , we've fallen a little behind in the blogging circuit. Not to mention the shock of the british cold snap this week, all I want to do in the evenings after work is watch the Chase with a cuppa and scroll through my various social media feeds or crawl into bed and binge watch Daredevil (again).
So why is this happening? It's not the first time of course. Over the 3 years we've been running this blog, this time of the year and usually in May time we end up 'falling behind'. Not creating any content whether it be visual or textual. Reading fellow bloggers articles and commenting. I should have learnt my lesson by now and just get on with it! Yet here we are once again.
Although I believe having a break from blogging is necessary every once in a while, it doesn't always feel that great. I had one of those style rut moments a few weeks past, which led to me not taking any outfit posts which then brought on the questions. 'Does our blog have an audience? Are our pictures getting worse? When was the last time I sat down and wrote something I was proud of? What am I even doing?" These questions are all too familiar when blogging, whoever is reading this right now has probably experienced it. Not to mention comparing our blog to others which results in realizing that I'm unhappy with quite a lot of aspects of our one. When did our theme get so dull and the posts so monotonous? Eventually you end up dissecting your blog and hating most of it.
So what now? Well, to be blunt, it's time to 'get my shit together' and begin all the blog stuff I've been wanting to do for a while. Update the theme again and maybe even move to WordPress. Start looking at some new photography equipment (new lens for Christmas would be a DREAM) and at least attempt to get both our outfits in the same picture, not to mention finding another location other than the front garden for an outfit backdrop. I've already spent a fair amount of last months paycheck on a wardrobe re-vamp (which includes an amazing pair of Vagabond booties and new coat) and have some free time this week that will hopefully be spent creating content and finally going to the cinema.
Now that I've written this I have no choice but to get on with it.
How do you get out of the 'blogging rut?'
